Pochoir:
Pochoir is the French word for stencil. The process uses actual pigment applied by hand through a cut out stencil. Pochoir color prints became popular in the 1920's and 1930's. The unusual printing technique did much to establish the “Deco” look. In the 1920's Paris was the center of the Art Deco World and Haute Couture was it's most important industry. High fashion magazines, such as the Gazette du Bon Ton, Art Gout Beaute and Tres Parisien, illustrated beautifully affluent Parisian society at leisure.
