On offer is this attractive 1930's camera case vanity powder compact manufactured by the British factory of Hussey Dawson and marketed under the familiar "Gwenda" trade name. The case measures 8 cm by a maximum of 5 cm and is made of chromium metal with sky blue enamelled surfaces. The spring hinged inset lid has a picture of a crinoline lady in a flower garden. The picture is reverse printed under a protective celluloid covering and then mounted over sparkling silver foil.
Under the discount lid is a polished metal mirror and the frame around the mirror is marked Gwenda Made in England. The mirror is clear and reflective. The powder well in the base is empty of powder but retains the original unused and clean powder puff.
This highly collectable 1930's powder compact is offered in good condition. The blue enamelled surfaces have a couple of very light pin prick losses and the case has some shallow dents to the back visible in certain light. The spring hinged door opens and closes correctly, the internal mirror is clear and reflective and the picture lid has good retained colours and no damage to the silver foil. Thank you for looking.
