Reticulation is a technique by which net-like or wave-like textures are produced on alloys of silver and copper by repeatedly heating the metal sheet until thin layers of pure silver form on the surfaces. Next discount, the metal is reheated to a temperature which melts the alloy , but since the pure silver layers have a higher melting point they will slump into the molten layer of metal between them in interesting patterns .
