Large Organically Shaped discount Etched Copper Earrings Enhanced with Ink & Metalic Gilt As Well As a Focal Rectangular Onyx Bead. Fabulously Boho

Handmade etched large copper earrings featuring a hand cut organic leaf like shape with an abstract texture design. Black India Ink, gilt pastes in gold, silver and copper were used to add color and to bring out the design. The piece features a hand made hammered brass bead cap topped with a a faceted rectangular Onyx bead. The bead caps and Onyx beads are attached to the main piece using an a copper rivet. The earring is given a curving convex shape in keeping with the overall design. These Fabulously Boho earrings make a statement, but despite their size are fairly light and easy to wear.

The earrings hang off of a gold filled earring post with a large gold filled bead. The overall length is 3 and 1/8 inches.

Copper, Brass and gold filled metals are used.

These earrings ship in a gift box with discount a bow (see the last photo for an example).

I started etching metal a couple of years ago and have been perfecting my designs and technical skills over time. This is one of a new line of pieces that I call Fabulously Boho. These new pieces have have new hand cut shapes, feature new metal coloring techniques and incorporate layering of bead caps and stones or pearls on top of the larger base piece.

The inspiration for this latest group of earrings came from an artist working in polymer clay. I loved her use of odd shapes, layering of pieces, bold use of color and inclusion of buttons in her necklace designs. I adapted some of her ideas to earrings and metals. Instead of buttons I found ways of incorporating bead caps and beads into the designs. Developing these new techniques involved trial and lots of error. Trust me, clay is much more forgiving than metal.

Creating these Fabulously Boho pieces requires a great deal of work and multiple steps. I think the end results are worth it. I hope you do too.
