Vintage Japanese Geisha Porcelain Figurine

Beautiful porcelain statue of a Japanese Geisha wearing a blue and pink kimono. Her stance has so much movement and grace. Bottom is marked "Made in Occupied Japan," which means this discount was made between 1945 – 1951 when western forces occupied Japan, disarming their military and establishing a new political order. To help revive the ravaged Japanese economy, Japan exported manufactured goods to western markets and all goods destined for the U.S. had to be marked “Occupied Japan” or “Made in Occupied Japan.” A beautiful decor item and interesting piece of history!
