This vintage biscuit tin from circa 1950s is known as the Peek Frean “Budgie” tin. Always in demand and not so easy to find! Wonderful pink background color, and beautifully decorated with budgerigar parakeet birds. I also love the way blue and pink fade in and out on the lid lip. Sweet bulge to the base. Lid lifts off. About 8 1/8” in diameter at very bottom (bulges wider than this higher up in the base) by about 2.75” tall.
CONDITION:
Some small areas of wear, small scratches and scuffs, handling marks and normal vintage soiling, small and minor dents and dings, some rust, etc.
•SEAM ON BASE is a little CROOKED, creating some unevenness on the bottom, so tin wobbles a bit, doesn't sit completely flat. Makes tin a little wonky. And because of seam issue, lid doesn't sit completely flat, so there is a LOPSIDED look.
•Lid art in nice shape for the most part. Small scratch on blue bird stands out more.
•A few small-ish dents on base discount, including one where lid fits over.
•Some early rust and soiling around lower rim areas.
•Some early-stage patina inside with some RUST around crevice and here and there elsewhere. Slight tea aroma to interior, or possibly crayons.
•A lot of thin, light scratches and scuffs on bottom.
•Open/closes fine.
The tin is empty.
No longer for food use. Any props not included.
Colors can vary across devices, so the colors and brightness should be considered an approximation.
