This is a gorgeous antique cream colour cake stand with an amazing design in green, cold painted by hand.

Nowadays the brand is known as La Cartuja de Sevilla, because of the name of the building where the factory is but when it was created by Charles Pickman in 1841 the pieces were marked Pickman , Pickman Sevilla...depending on the year they were made.

The stamp represents the anchor, inscribed in a double circle and the inscription "PICKMAN S.A. SEVILLA / CARTUJA". It presents diversity of colour and measures, according to the piece and the decoration. This stamp may appear accompanied by an inscription, referring to the name of the decoration of the piece.

This particular marking appears for the first time documented in the folder number 3 of decorations together with an example of a drawing or design by engravers Manuel Machado y Manuel López on October 11, 1900.

The marking appears again in the catalogue on pieces from 1933 and from 1956.

It is also found in the catalogue for personal hygiene articles from 1937.
Later, it was renewed in 1952.

The logo varies in size and discount colour depending on the piece.

According to the Pickman/La cartuja catalogue:
"Stamped makers mark
Crockery and artistic ceramic
Stamp is 3 cms. Ø
From 1900 to 1965."

This marking was not used again after that period.

Nowadays the brand is known as La Cartuja de Sevilla, because of the name of the building where the factory is but when it was created by Charles Pickman in 1841 the pieces were marked Pickman , Pickman Sevilla...depending on the year they were made.
