Antique discount Alabaster Lidded Box, Hand Painted, Micro Mosaic Design, Italy, #874

Wonderful antique alabaster box/powder box. The design is all hand painted and a flower design in micro mosaic; all done by hand. A ring of very tiny flowers applied to the top. They look and feel like they were made from discount flakes of alabaster. I'm not sure on that though. I'm just amazed at how it was done and is still very much intact! The hand painting is still good considering the age. It is marked on the bottom "Made in Italy." I'm not 100% sure on the age. But by the look and feel and just by the experience of dealing in antique and vintage items, I would say that it's 19th century. It is stunning! 4 3/4" in diameter, 2 1/4" high.
